The Gospel

gos·pel   ˈgäspəl’   noun

The teaching or revelation of Christ.

At High Pointe Church, our motto is ‘Pointing People to Jesus.’ Which simply means spreading the Gospel. Here’s a video to help explain.

What is salvation?

Let’s take a look at some scripture that will help explain what it is, and why we need it.

We are all sinners

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
( ESV)

No one is perfect, even if you never did anything wrong, except one thing, you are found guilty of breaking the law.

For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it.
( ESV)

The penalty for our sin is death. That’s what we deserve.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
( ESV)

BUT, God loved us, and made a way for us to have eternal life.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
( ESV)

Repent = Admit you are a sinner, in need of a savior.

Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,
( ESV)

Believe that Jesus came to die for your sins.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
( ESV)

Jesus asks us to come to him.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
( ESV)

How are we saved? Speak to God, admit that you need Jesus, give Him your life, and believe that He died and rose again.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
( ESV)

Is Christ standing at the door knocking (), waiting for you to let him in? The Bible tells us that only the faith of a child () is needed. Don’t wait any longer, make Jesus the Lord of your life, surrender to Him today. Talk to God now, tell him you are a sinner, in need of salvation. That you believe Jesus came to save you, and died on the cross, only to rise again three days later. Submit your life to him.
